    The Senior Collection Specialist follows SEKO’s policies and procedures in going through the process of collections, credit analysis, accounts receivable reporting, projects and provides customer service.

    Responsibilities

    • The Senior Collection Specialist is responsible for collecting a portfolio which is a list of customer accounts for an assigned portfolio. Management trains and guides the efforts towards the areas of importance, but it is the responsibility of the Senior Collection Specialist to thoroughly know and work their portfolio.
    • Guidelines are established relating to the numbers of calls to make, quality of the call notes, goals for collections, goal for write-offs and maintaining incoming and outgoing mail.
    • Lead a group of assigned collection staff in weekly collection review meetings and from those meetings decide which accounts need to be escalated to the Director of Credit and Collections.
    • Create AR reports in excel or other programs as per the specifications outlined by the Director of Credit and Collections to facilitate the discussion and dissemination of collection activity internally and externally.
    • Create reports for and facilitate meetings with Stations, Collectors and the Director to review account and determine if they are collectable or need to be written off and placed for third party collections.
    • Have the ability to create and manipulate reports in excel or other provided software to track collection activity and results to internal and external customers.
    • Be the backup to the Credit Analyst for credit research, evaluation and set up in the ERP for new credit lines and approve lines up to authorized limit.
    • On accounts written off to bad debt, interface with our third party agency on-line portals to place, correspond with, pull reporting and place accounts and upload detail (as applicable).
    • Projects that come up during the course of the year as assigned by the Director.
    • A Senior Collection Specialist is responsible for communicating with the stations and keeping them informed of their customer's accounts regarding disputes and collections. The Collector is to solicit help from the stations in collecting accounts when it is determined necessary.
    • The Senior Collection Specialist is responsible for being trained and requesting training on an as needed basis, as well as continuing their education on their own for credit and collection skills, general business skills, PC skills and computer skills.
    • Lead the facilitation and documentation in training efforts for the collection staff as needed.
    • Comply with SEKO’s C-TPAT Security Profile.

    Education and / Or Experience

    High School Diploma or GED equivalent, and five years plus work experience in the commercial credit and collection field is required. Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel and Office required. Some college or specialized credit and collection or related course work preferred. Experience in working with National Accounts and AP portals is a plus.
