  • Responsibilities

    Responsible for US Customs Compliance regulations, record keeping and provisions, GSP, HTS classifications, C-TPAT, BRASS etc.

    • Oversees all day to day Import procedures, NAFTA requirements and all applicable administrative U.S. or foreign government programs, as well as the harmonized tariff classification operations
    • Coordinates compliance issues with the Corporate Director of Import.
    • Contributes to development of a system to manage the documentation required by US Customs Regulations and the Company.
    • Responsible for the analysis of all international financial operations, to determine the proper valuation of Imported merchandise.
    • Responsible for analysis and tracking of US government trade policy to ensure that all benefits under current or potential trade law can be exercised.
    • Ensures that all direct reports receive training in Import procedures.
    • Expected to uphold SEKO’s Core Values.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge in US Customs and International trade, with a basic understanding of customs valuation, classification, compliance/audit and trade programs.
    • Knowledge in any/all of the following areas: NAFTA, classification, value, marking, customs audits, compliance & opportunity reviews, first sale, disclosures, etc.
    • Client service orientation, initiative, responsiveness,
    • Team oriented and comfortable in either a leadership or team leader role

     

    Certifications: US Customs Brokers License Required

     

     

    Knowledge & Work Experience:

     

    • Complete working knowledge of all US Customs Compliance Rules and Regulations.
    • Knowledge of NAFTA and all other related trade legislation, rules, and regulations.
    • Experience in implementing compliance processes.
    • Experience with Smartborder preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must.
    • Some working knowledge of Foreign Trade Zones.
    • Leadership and supervisory experience.
